I need 2 install Win Xp professional 64-bit OS in newly brought Compaq Presario CQ40-144TU notebook PC which is pre loaded with FreeDOS OS and tried our level best ,but not able to install XP OS and Vista is getting installed perfectly......As Iam a guy frm mechanical background not know much about these stuffs.pleas helo me in this.

What happens when you try to install XP? how far does it get in the installation before it gives you problems?
Also, no XP drivers are available from HP's website, that is going to cause alot of looking around for correct drivers to get things working, and you may not be able to get everything working, just FYI. Edit: Audio, Video, and Network drivers should be available from Intel's or Nvidia's website, they will be basic only. The chipset and SD card reader may be difficult to find.
