Clogged heatsink on toshiba laptop the problem?
I'm using a toshiba satellite p205-S6267
lately my toshiba laptop shuts down automatically. I turned it on and it shuts off after logging on windows. Laptop was really laggy before all this happened. So after letting it cool down for an hour it made it for 30 minutes before going out again. Btw my cooling fan hasn't been active at all. Laptop is so silent which is weird because it has whirring sounds most of the time. So i searched online and i heard most toshiba laptops have overheating problems. I know dust have accumulated inside over the years (I can tell by looking at the fan). Should I get my laptop checked up or is should reformat? |

Get a can or two of compressed air, unless you have access to an air compressor, and give it a good cooling. Use a small wooden object to hold the cooling fan while blowing on it.
If that doesn't solve the problem then it might need to be cleaned inside.

If you can, find a friend that's tech savvy--and you trust them to do take apart your laptop--have them take it apart and clean out the fan/heatsink.
It's disgusting, but it helps loads with overheating--obviously.
