Re: computer falied to start because of disk read error occurred
i got a bigger proplem. now my computer says that there are no OS found, insert setup disk and press any key. let me tell how this happend. i download ultimate boot cd and formated the hard disk form an option inside of it through the disk manager of my hard disk's manufacturer( it has all the disk managers inside of it. its a handy tool). ithought it would help but no it only made it worse. anyway i decided to put in the vista cd and install agian. but when i get the part where supposed to click what drive i want to install on but there arent any options to select form. and agian i tryed startup reapair and agian they said "hard disk not found" thx for going through this.

Re: computer falied to start because of disk read error occurred
All drives fail . . some sooner. . some later. butthey will all fail.
Keep a good set of backups for when they do. You should be able to replace the hard drive for around $60 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...TA%203.0Gb%2fs

Re: [SOLVED] computer falied to start because of disk read error occurred
Any of those will work fine . . Dell drives are easy to replace. Look on the support site for a guide.
You will have to reinstall XP . . do you have the Dell Reinstallation disc?
