Anyone ever see this? DVD/RW Issue.

I am using a Gateway M-1634u laptop. My Optiarc DVD RW AD 7563 ATA Device will read the Gateway Operating System Disc, but will not read other DVDs, Software CDs, Music CDs or burned CDs.

Please help me figure out why only the one disc will read.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the drive, updated the drivers, used regedit to see if I had Upper/LowerFilters present (I do not) and a couple other solutions, but to no avail.

Any help with this issue would be greatly appreciated.

will it boot to other cd's? or does it just not see them in windows?

It will not boot any CD/DVD. It will only open the Operating Disc. Anything else just doesn't register in My Computer or in D: (my DVD drive designation).

If you can't even boot from discs, other than your OS disc, then you could try a lens cleaner or replacing the drive.
