Acer Aspire 5100-5674 still shows the old realtek driver version

Hi,

I recently updated my realtek audio driver from version 6.0.1.5605 to 10.0.5605 . During the installation I was asked to restart and when the computer is back up to go the the original realtek folder and use the original realtek audio setup file and then the updated driver would be complete?

I was able to find the older version of the realtek audio driver and I ran the .exe file like I was prompted after the installation of the new driver. When I was booted back up it still shows the older version of the realtek driver but it shows the new installation date...?

Is this normal?

Please advise I am not sure if the update was successful or not.

Maybe someone can advise me how to properly install a newer driver. I downloaded the realtek driver from the acer website. I tried to update the driver through Vista Device Manager searching for the .inf file but I was only given an option to search the folder not allowing me to point to the actual file.? Did I do this correctly?

So.. I just installed the newer driver by running the .setup file from the vista x86 folder that came with the download. This is where it prompted me to restart and run the older audio version file to complete the installation.

Also when I run the Device manager in Vista it says that my driver is up to date but it also still shows the older version installed?

Any ideas anyone?
