Hi
I have a Dell Inspirion 8100 laptop. About 3.5 yrs. ago I had the fan replaced cause it totally stopped working. Now,when I have the computer on it seems as though the fan is "stuck on." It never stops running. Do u think it maybe going bad again or could it be dust? Do I have to break down the entire laptop to clean dust or would a hand held vaccum work? Thank You |

Re: Dell Inspirion 8100 Cooling Fan
See how high temps get. If temp reaches 60+ Celsius you are on the high side of things. Consider cleaning the vents/fan areas. Best if you can reapply thermal compound.

Re: Dell Inspirion 8100 Cooling Fan
the fan is normally always running. If you notice it more now it may be because it's working or it may be running faster trying to cool things down. I'd personally pull it open to clean as you'll likely just lodge dustballs inside with the vacuum. You'd be much better off using a can of compressed air or the like as a vacuum can cause static electricity which could fry your circuits. Be careful about letting the fan spin as you clean it as this can ruin the fan as well. hold it in place with a toothpick or the like. something non-metallic like wood or plastic.
