R3000 COMPAQ Presario ac adapter issue.

I have read many repair recommendation from resoldering the ac adapter plug to the motherboard and a HP XC1000 all-in-one media cable.
The media cable isnt available, but soldering is an option.
What do you think is best.
The ac plug adapter is really loose, and can be repaired if I had time.
But what of this cable? Is there a newer model available?

Re: R3000 COMPAQ Presario ac adapter issue.

May be you are referring to the DC-IN jack connection (where output of AC adapter plugs into the laptop). Yes, try resoldering. If you need it replaced try looking for replacement part in eBay. Best if you can get the part number from service manual so there will be NO incompatibilities. Service manual can be found in COMPAQ/HP website for your model.
