Toshiba A300 overheated

Hi I'm an idiot, I left my laptop sat on the bed it sank into the quilt and overheated, now it wont start up.

I can access the bios, the repair menus through F8 & F12 I can even pick how I want the system to boot ie from HD or CD etc (though I havent tried anything other than the HD as I dont have a copy of Vista or a backup disk). When I start it up I get the Toshiba screen then the windows startup screen with the bars along the bottom, that stays on for the usual length of time then nothing it pointer appears but thats it.

My guess is the cpu and the motherboard are ok and its the HD thats the problem but I'm no expert, can anyone help as I'd like to fix myself?

Oh the O.S. is Vista its a T5750 processor

Re: Toshiba A300 overheated

Follow the instructions on the link I posted before and we'll see how it goes. If that does not help may be you should use recovery CDs.

If you have recovery CDs may be they can help too. Instructions on how to do recovery (or may be Startup Repair) can be found here (read on recovery using recovery CD): http://cdgenp01.csd.toshiba.com/cont...339010_web.pdf
