Wire for Laptop Charger

I brought my laptop to Canada but the plug isn't right for the mains electricity here. The charger has 2 pieces, the 1st is one that connects from the mains to this tiny black box (I think it's a transformer) and the 2nd is one that connects from the tiny black box to my laptop.

The pieces can be separated so I think this was meant to ensure my laptop using different voltages. Currently, I'm using an adapter so it's quite cumbersome.

My laptop is a HP Pavilion tx2000 and I'll upload pics of my chargers later.

So does the wire that connects from the black box to the mains have a name? Is there also a place where I could normally buy it?

Re: Wire for Laptop Charger

I think you need a power adapter to plug your power cord to the wall outlet. Usually you can get UNIVERSAL adapters from Radioshack, WalMart or BestBuy. See here:

Re: Wire for Laptop Charger

I do have an adapter, but what I really want is to replace the right most black wire of my charger so that I wouldn't have to use an adapter.

Does it actually have a name? And which shop could I buy one in Canada?

Re: Wire for Laptop Charger

It is the power cord of the adapter. I tried to Google and yes you can find several for sale online.
