Toshiba Portege R100 Funny Failure On Power Up.
Hi,
I'm pretty worried about a funny failure that appears on my laptop Toshiba. That's as follows: When you attempt to power up this system, pushing the power button it shows power indicator green light, this step remains for about two secs afterward the indicator turns into orange color blinking state staying in this state forever more. You can hear its 5V processor's fan and maybe the HD drive running but anything else is happening, no display on screen, either. Could anyone give me a bit of light in such dark fault? Any available power on schematics for this R100 laptop will be welcome. Thanks in advance. Regards. |

Re: Toshiba Portege R100 Funny Failure On Power Up.
Is it the power ON LED or the battery LED? Have you tried without the battery? Also have you tried with a new/good/working battery?

Re: Toshiba Portege R100 Funny Failure On Power Up.
Yes, It is the power on Led and I have tried without its main battery.
Afterward, I tried another older battery which was still in good condition. That fail came firstly when I added its external battery, because its main battery was lasting for about 50 min; so I added the external and charged up to full charge. Then I worked with Linux Ubuntu 8.10 for about 1 hour 45 min and all of a sudden all was gone, and this funny thing showed up. |

Re: Toshiba Portege R100 Funny Failure On Power Up.
Well I guess the next best thing to do is to take it apart down to RAM, mobo, LCD and power ON switch. Remove everything else including modem, wifi card, battery (use only AC as power source), etc. With what is left assembled, power the laptop up and see what happens.
If problem exists at this point with almost all devices removed, you may suspect a bad RAM or a bad motherboard (very likely).
