OS: Windows XP 2007 Home Edition Core Duo 1.6GHz, 15.4in WXGA, 512MB DDR2, 100GB SATA, DVD+-RW w/ DL, 80

Toshiba A105 S4244 DVD/CD clocks out works on certain CDs

Very sorry. I've searched this topic here in the LAPTOP section and results were error messages of sorts from the main server.

I have [2] Toshiba A105 S4244 Laptops, Windows XP running HomeEdition 2007 1.5 g ram Core Duo 1.6GHz, 15.4in WXGA, 1.5MB DDR2, 100GB SATA, DVD+-RW w/ DL, 802.11g wireless, XP Media Center 2005

Okay problem.

When I replaced my keyboard [correct keyboard the olde one wore out] I decided to reformat the entire laptop. Original system discs etc. Loaded HomeEdition 2007, all MS patches up to 3, then opened my CD of Adobe Photoshop 5.0 LE. Put the CD in. DVD drive cycles slowly, yellow light is on and stays side lit, but no activation to allow software to load in Windows.

I went over to my identical Toshiba A105 S4244 and placed the CD Adobe Photoshop 5.0 LE in and the drive immediately brought up the media choices to run software download.

I also tried this with two movie CD, both are burned and both work on the "other" Toshiba A105, but only one of the two operate with the A105 I'm presently having issues with... odd.

Is there something that the DVD player has missing or has missed in reformat mode?

I hope you can answer this question. ...I'm not tech savvy.

Thank you, the first URL only applies to Vista, won't detect on a windows XP system.

The second URL is puzzling. My issue is, the CD/DVD drive does operate with certain CD's or application software CD's. Example I was able to load 2007 Home Edition without any isses. I can't load the Adobe Photo Shop 5.0 LE. On the other hand, the "other" Toshiba Laptop, exact same machine purchased the same day, same operating system, allows me to install Adobe, recognizes the CD rom software disc and allows you to begin installing.

So, to summerize, the CD/DVD is picky on what it likes to read.
