Acer Aspire 5315

Hi. I'm new to this forum and being so, unaware of where this should go.

I've had my Acer Aspire 5315 laptop running Vista Basic about a year or so now and it's got a few problems. I'm not particularly great with computers so any (detailed) help would be greatly appreciated.

#1. It's hellishly slow (possibly partly due to the 20gb+ I have worth of music in my iTunes and I've probably got viruses on it but can't check due to #2.)

#2. It keeps cutting out and dying, then refuses to go back on for about 5 minutes.

That's about it!
Any help would be much appreciated.

sounds like a heat problem

are you using it on a flat hard surface

check the air vents are clear of dust

check your temperatures
