Acer laptop screen and restarting issue

Hi, I have had my acer aspire 5650 laptop for some time now though a while ago the inverter broke so i plugged into an external monitor with no issues, however about a month or so ago the screen would produce weird lines across it (with another monitor too) and would not fully start up, it would encouter a blue screen error and restart, and do it over and over again.

It had done this once before but only the blue screen error and reformatting had fixed it. Nothing seems to of worked this time and wasnt sure whether it was worth my money taking it in to a computer shop to get it checked out. Any ideas?? Has it completely died? Thanks

Do they appear if you go into BIOS settings only (before Windows starts)?

yeah the lines are in the bios as well :(

Lines show in LCD even in BIOS settings? Hook up an external monitor and see if issues also shows up even with a PC monitor... if it does it could be an issue with video card or motherboard... if NOT it could be an LCD issue only (loose cable, or worse LCD assembly).

yeah they show up both with an lcd monitor and an old bulky monitor, do you reckon thats fixable? or is it better off with my money to replace the laptop completely rather than repair it

Both the LCD and the external monitor display the same issue when laptop is boot up into BIOS settings (not Windows)? If so then it is possible you have a problem witht the video card or the motherboard. Cost wise it is better to get a new laptop.
