Dell Inspiron 1150 doesn't seem to post?
I've got an old Dell Inspiron 1150 which doesn't seem to be able to do anything past the screen that shows up when you first turn it on (where you can get into the boot list and BIOS from).
The screen has become red... Like, all the words that show are red. This only started happening about two weeks ago. Dunno if it's relevant, but it sure is weird ![]() I've tried to get into BIOS and to look at the boot list (F2 and F12). After hitting the button, it says "loading xx" and then the screen goes black. Everything inside the computer seems to stop, but I know that it's still on because the power button is still on. Right now I'm thinking it's either a HDD issue... But I'm not quite sure. |

Boot settings screen is RED too? How about if you use an external monitor?

Re: Dell Inspiron 1150 doesn't seem to post?
alright so I somehow managed to get the laptop to turn on... But the screen immediately dims so that you can't see anything that's going on. I can't change te brightness with the fn+brightness +/- key. Would you have any idea how to change that?

Re: Dell Inspiron 1150 doesn't seem to post?
have you tried connecting a monitor to see if that comes up normal
if it does then it is likely the backlight/inverter

Re: Dell Inspiron 1150 doesn't seem to post?
Alright so, turns out, there was never anything wrong with this laptop
![]() ![]() ![]() The screen just stops being blacklit... My grandparents just thought that the computer was turning off randomly. All I had to do was close it, then reopen it and it worked just fine. And I like having this laptop hooked up to a second monitor... :D Thanks for trying to help, even though it was really just a complete waste of your time XD But if you know why the backlight randomly stops working, I'd be glad to hear of any ways to fix it :) Last edited by Dilyn; 07-06-2009 at 04:46 PM. |
