White screen on 700m Inspiron

I cracked my screen and replaced it. I replaced the lcd inverter and flashed to BIOS, but I still only get a white screen. I can use an external monitor with no problem. Can this be fixed?

LCD and inverter replaced but screen shows only WHITE background? External monitor works fine? Looks like a bad LCD to me. By any chance you have another LCD screen to test with or another way to test your LCD screen?

DIY (?)... will need another laptop.

May be time to see a pro to determine if it is fixable or get a new laptop. It is aout 4 years old

Repair shops can test the LCD for you as (most probably) they have spares to use.

A second new lcd screen still shows white. Very frustrating.

Strange -- I've posted about this exact same issue (a different computer, but same problem). New LCD, new cable, no video, white backlight, external monitor works fine.

Any hope on your end?

Just to clarify... LCD shows all white on the screen from boot up? Can't even see logo splash or BIOS settings screen?

It is white all the time from the very start up. No other screen color, icon or message appears. The screen does light up white so it is connected.

I will re-try the connection. If the Mother board is bad, will an external screen still work?

In my personal (limited) experience, if mobo is bad, external screen WILL NOT work (nothing on external monitor).
