HP Pavilion DV9000 dim screen

I have a cousin who came over from Poland with her laptop. During travel she spilled a drink on the laptop and now the LCD screen is dim when it turns on. Screen is very very dim but you can still somewhat see something if you squint your eyes.

I strongly suspect that the inverter is damaged and needs to be replaced. But it is possible that other things may need to be fixed too. Also is there a way to perhaps clean the insides of the laptop from the drink to stop any corrosion?

This laptop is running Windows Vista btw.

In addition the wireless internet function no longer works. Well it stopped working when she left the country. Any reason for this?

Thanks for any help.

Cleaning a spill may require you to take it all apart. I am not sure what method you are familiar with but this one works (see link) for me well http://www.ehow.com/how_2292902_clean-motherboard.html. Let it dry for a few days before putting everything back together.

Re: HP Pavilion DV9000 dim screen

OK after replacing the Inverter it seemed to work fine for a few days. Now when you try to turn it off the screen goes white. Even if you close the laptop the screen stays white. Only way to make it stop showing the white screen is to remove the battery. However other than the white screen it seems to work all right for now.
