Re: dell few problems

turned laptop on to do what you said and now it has a blue screen that says
a problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage if this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen. restart your computer. if this screen appears again . follow these steps.disable or unstall any anti-virus. disk defragmentation or backup utilities. check your hard drive configuration. and check for any updated drivers. run chkdsk /f to check for hard drive corruption. and then restart your computer. technical inoformation: stop:0x00000024 (0x00190203.0x82527898.0xc0000102.0x00000000)

.that is what it is doing now

Re: dell few problems

Boot to the XP CD and run chkdsk from the repair console.

Put your XP disk into your CD drive and restart your system. This will start the XP installation process. When you come to the screen that asks if you want to install XP or if you would like to Repair XP, choose Repair. This will open the repair console command prompt. At the prompt, type: chkdsk /r. note a space between the k and the /. Then hit Enter. The repair should now start. Allow it to run until it stops. This can take some time, so be patient.

If all goes well, XP will replace any and all missing operating system files.

You may have to first enter the BIOS to make sure that the boot sequence is set so that the CD drive boot before the hard drive.

Re: dell few problems

It sounds like you need help with cleaning out malware, but we do not help with that in this section of the forum

Please read “Virus/Trojan/Spyware Removal Help “ and follow the instructions very carefully; then, post all the requested logs and information in the Virus Help Forum

If you cannot complete any step, just miss it out and do what you can, but be sure to include this information in your post.
Please ensure that you create a new thread in the Virus Help Forum; not back here in this one.

Please be patient, as the Security Team Analysts are usually very busy; one of them will answer your request as soon as they can.

Because of recent changes in the way malware affects the computer and the way it incorporates itself into the operating system we no longer allow users that are NOT a part of the security team to post a reply or fix to a users thread, nor to offer specific malware removal advice in any section of the forums.
