Gateway fan not working?

Hello, first post here, but i have a gateway mx something series. And the fan next to the cpu doesnt spin anymore, I was getting an error stating i need to check my system fans and wouldnt boot, but now it boots. I took off part of the bottom shell and took the fan out, it all seems to be in order, when i boot the computer it spins, then stops, and when i had the fan off it would randomly come on and off. any ideas?

Re: Gateway fan not working?

Motherboard of laptop senses if fan is connected or not (laptop won't boot if fan is not connected). I suggest you reapply thermal compound and may be save up for a replacement fan... as it could mean a dying fan already.
