Acer eRecovery Problems
Hi,
I had to reinstall windows because for some reason my antivirus (bitdefender antivirus 2009) detected trojans in the Windows Vista Home Premium X32 service pack 2 update and so when it went to install he update, even though my bit blocked some of the files included in it, when it went to go to stage 3/3 (after reboot) it kept telling me windows failed to start and suggested startup manager or something like that, forgot what it was called. Anyways when I reinstalled windows and downloaded all the correct software from Acers site when I installed eRecovery and tried to run it, it doesnt show up in the framework and when I go to the start menu it would say that shortcut was invalided and ask me if I wanted to delete it. How do I get it to work? Last edited by redstorm3265; 06-25-2009 at 02:43 AM. |

Re: Acer eRecovery Problems
I have already tried that and it does nothing but stop the bios load up process, at the bottom there's a bar that shows the progress of bios loading but when i press and hold alt+f10 it just stops or freezes and no matter how long I hold it nothing different pops up and the only option it shows is <F2> for settings.

I don't think so, here's what it shows. One time I had to use the windows installation disc and looked for drivers to load it showed a partition named PQSERVICE or something like that, could that be it?
lol opps i forgot to attatch the image. Last edited by dai; 06-26-2009 at 08:51 AM. |

Re: Acer eRecovery Problems
yes my F keys do work, another way i can tell is every time you press and hold a key the load bar at the bottom stops loading when you press it. but yes the F2 option does work.

Re: Acer eRecovery Problems
Correct me if I am wrong but you have windows installed with all the drivers and it is working.
Why are you trying to run eRecovery when all it will do is install windows with the basic drivers and no updates which you have already done? Have you have backed up your system to removable media and want to restore it from there?

Re: Acer eRecovery Problems
Download the correct driver from acer or even from broadcom and save to your desktop.
Go to device manager and remove wlan Reboot and see if if installs the correct one if not try to force it to accept the drivers you saved. If you are missing any other drivers please post back with the exact model of your laptop

Re: Acer eRecovery Problems
oh hey I just found out something about the hidden partition, it says it has 100% free space, look for your self. Also How do I get it to install the broadcom instead of dell?

Re: Acer eRecovery Problems
My Wife's Acer is showing the same.
Go to start/control panel/device manager/network adapters and click on the arrow on the left to expand it, right click on the Wlan and left click on Uninstall. Reboot your computer and it should find the adapter and install it. Post back if it installs the wrong drivers.
