Acer laptop suddenly DIED!

Hi first time here and thank God there is someone(s) to ask that won't start off with "we're open tomorrow at 9..."

I have an old(ish) laptop beside me here, Acer Travelmate 613 TXC. I loaded in Windows XP i WAS going to load in a Linkseye Wireless-N USB Network Adaptor but my daughter convinced me to try the Belkin Wireless adaptor that we had on an old computer to link it up to the new (fast) computer. The router on it is a Belkin as well.
I loaded the install disc on my Acer Travelmate and then plugged in the adaptor and suddenly my computer just died. I have tried..
............removing the battery then replacing it
...........moving the power plug to a different wall
..........fiddling with the power plug that goes into the computer
..........reading my Tarot Cards and praying
Nothing! At first I was getting the little indicator light to come on the laptop to show it ws charging but now even that has died.

It's now 11:20 where I am and I'm going to go wash my face and pile on some
"beauty" creams and pray some more.....can anyone help me? PLEASE
