black screen can't boot from any device.
I have a Gateway s-7235C laptop. After a vista service pack two update things were not going well and I attempted an Acronis recovery. Everything appreared to go well until the re-start. I was then not able to boot. I booted via CD two times from the factory CD. I attempted a repair and it looked like the program repaired the partition table. after that I could not boot again from any device. I copied the recovery CD to USB and changed boot order, still no luck. I copied the Acronis bootable CD to USB stick, still no luck. I can get into BIOS but then it just goes to black screen. Any ideas on how to get booted up would be greatly appreciated!

Can you at least go into BIOS setup? If you can how long can you stay in BIOS setup screen before the screen blacks out? Does it behave the same if you use an external monitor?
