I have an Inspiron 2650, 1.7 gHz, 512 mb and 120gb, XP home. The system clock keeps losing time. I suspect the CMOS battery is fading. WHERE is it? DELL docs omit this detail. What battery(ies) is(are) located where? Is it a single battery or a special DELL assembly? I have seen similar behavior in desktops with occaisional "clever" and annoying spots to nearly hide the battery

Re: Inspiron 2650 CMOS
Not positive but I think they had what was called non field replaceable soldered on batteries. If so it can be done if your very experienced with a soldering iron on small components.
I did a quick search but didn't find one for sale. But here's a nice guide to disassembly http://chrisjhughes.blogspot.com/200...iron-2650.html |
