Sony Vaio,PCG-6HCP i think i screwed up

Hey hi

I regretted opening up this notebook.
My purpose was originally to do some maintenance as there were alot of heat built up near the fan and the harddrive part of the housing. So i googled and disassembled the notebook. Everything was fine until i put them back together. The lcd is black (like there is no power to the screen)but the vga output works
The rest of the parts functions and boot.

it is strange, the lcd screen did work sometimes but when i restart a few times to confirm its working and screwed in a few screws on the way,the lcd is not showing again. it seem to be only working on certain angles that i tilt it to.

Also due to lots of forceful shutdowns, the harddrive dont seem to be able to boot to windows.(but it allow me to choose if i want to boot in safe mode)
could it be a burnt out harddrive due to the short circuits from forceful shutdowns.

These are like the problems i am facing now, i have checked the hardware again and again reinserting ribbons, unscrewing here and there everything seems to be in the right place.(could it be i burnt a resistor or something like while disassembling?)

I thought i can diagnose a notebook like a desktop but now i think otherwise.
Plus it a favor for a friend.I feel so bad promising something i cant do

model :Sony VAIO PCG-6HCP(although not exact but the chaise and casing is the same)

Is the LCD showing something at boot up or POST (ex. Sony logo, POST details, etc...)? If not, I suggest you open it up again (you mentioned something about it works when tilted in some way) and check the connections (all video/LCD related cables including the ones for the inverter), as it could be a loose connection. Check the motherboard and the LCD side of each of these connections.

Re: Sony Vaio,PCG-6HCP i think i screwed up

Sadly no, the screen shows nothing, i open up so many times to check the hardware however i did not touch the inverters. the video cables on the board is fine.
It should not be a backlight problem too, i have check the screen for and sign of image but there is none.

but i am still thinking maybe its the problem with the lcd latch detector, however this model i think it runs on a magnetic type but i cannot locate it. i suspect so because the screen does not even have power running to it.

thanks if u have more ways of diagnostics that will be great

Try it with an external monitor.

Based on your post (see quote above), I suggest you check the connections. Remove and put back if needed.
