Fan Noise in the laptop

Hello All,

Hope everyone is doing fine..

I have a Compaq Presario f767 NR, with Vista Home Edition installed.

The problem is when there are a few programs running there is loud fan noise almost all the time which creates a lot of heat. Cannot keep it the laptop on the lap

Any recommendations, suggestions is greatly appreciated.

Thanks
AD

Re: Fan Noise in the laptop

a laptop should be used on a hard flat surface

get a can of air and blow the dust out the fan may be clogged with dust causing it to run off balance or the fan may need replacing

Re: Fan Noise in the laptop

hi just to clarify the fan does not create heat it removes it by blowing it out of the casing which is why you should use it on a flat surface as your legs could block the vent

Hi

I totally agree with dai and joeten.

Have a look here: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01657439&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&product=3682526

It's from the product's support page from HP.

Re: Fan Noise in the laptop

Great article recommendation from GeorgeKS. The article summarises the problem well and by placing your laptop on a hard flat surface it is less likely the fan will become blocked or affected by dust. This should make your fan significantly quieter.
