WD-40 and a buzzing laptop fan

Hi,

I was wondering if I could spray some WD-40 onto my laptop's CPU fan spindle to remedy a buzzing noise that it's been having. Would you recommend to carefully spray a small amount and wait for it to dry before turning it back on?

Re: WD-40 and a buzzing laptop fan

I would not recomend this- the wd40 could be too viscous once it has dried.
Try blowing out the cooler fan with an air can-this should dislodge any accumulation of fluff
and hopefully stop the buzzing.

I disassembled the cover and blew out all the dust. Ironic, but this was when the noise became noticeable.

Could be a worn out fan bearing. I suggest you replace the fan instead.
