Hey all,

I'm having a problems with my new hp laptop for work that I was hoping I could get some help with.

I am currently running Windows Vista SP1.

I am trying to link my bluetooth mouse with the built in bluetooth in the laptop but I'm having the following problem.

When I go to control panel --> Bluetooth Devices --> Add Wireless Device it is unable to find the mouse (yes the mouse is in discovery mode).
When I try to go into Bluetooth settings and check the box "Allow Bluetooth Devices to find this computer" I get the following error
"An error occured while Windows was saving your settings. The bluetooth device might be unplugged. The following settings were not saved. Discoverability settings. Connection settings."

Any ideas on what the problem is with that?

On a quick side note, does anyone know how to get rid of the annoying check boxes that show up in the top left of all icons?

Thanks for any help.

Side not, I know this laptop comes with bluetooth. Its an hp Pavillion dv7-1245dx and everything online and from the guy at the store says it comes with bluetooth. It has the bluetooth settings in the control panel even.

But in the device manager there are no bluetooth devices listed.

Re: New hp laptop, 2 minorish problems

I would suggest reinstalling the BlueTooth drivers, but a search of the HP site for that model doesn't list them.

This page doesn't list Bluetooth for that system: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/d...roduct=3860630

Does your system have this product number?: NB231UA#ABA

Was this a special purchase for the office or a custom built/configured system?

Re: New hp laptop, 2 minorish problems

It was a purchase for the office, and you're right, it doesn't show it as having bluetooth. My understanding was that the bluetooth settings in control panel don't show up unless you do(and the sales man said it came with bluetooth), but I guess I was mistaken.

Thanks.

Re: New hp laptop, 2 minorish problems

Bluetooth shouldn't show up unless someone has installed a Bluetooth stack on the system.
In that case you'd need a dongle/plug (it's really just a Bluetooth receiver) to attach a Bluetooth device (the mouse should have come with one).
