blank acer aspire screen :S
hey guys, hope my problem doesnt sound as repetitve lol, but i have an acer aspire 7730 laptop and was working fine till last night i shut the lid to put it to sleep, only it wouldnt so i checked about 10 minutes later and it was on the log on screen, only if i tried to log in or shut down it said "a device has been unplugged" or something along those lines, so i took the battery out, left it on the side and went to sleep
Dont think anyone used it untill i did in the afternoon, at which point when i switched it on my laptop screen was blank the backlight was lit however, the laptop seemed to be whirring and the little lights were flashing i knew the laptop was running because the functions were working and it was responding, but the screen was just a lit up black left it for ages and still nothing long story short, i just got back home and have hooked it up to my VGA monitor, thank god it worked, moved my err impt files and my uni work, and well have been browsing forums for an hour, but i seem to just get problems with peoples backlights being dead, nothing along the lines of my problem.switched off the backlight and shone a light, saw nothing. did the fn + F5 thing, nothing. Did fn + F6 nothing. took the power and battery out and held the power button for 30 seconds, nothing (besides a small shock from the power lead plug lool ) and even fiddled with the brightness. dont want to go through the whole send it back to acer crap, so if i cant fix it myself im just going to have to go to PC world and see what they saySo any ideas guys? all help will be much appreciated thx

Re: blank acer aspire screen :S
Hi,
You see nothing on LCD from startup? Not even a blinking cursor? However when used with external monitor you see everything from startup to Windows Desktop? If that is the case, then I think it is NOT a STANDBY/HIBERNATE issue anymore. You may have a problem with your LCD.

Re: blank acer aspire screen :S
i see nothing on the LCD screen at all (besides it being lit up), but yh the monitor shows everything, im actually using the laptop now to post coz im too lazy to get the computer on lol :P i was thinking maybe a connection or something has come loose with the screen, but then would the backlight still be on? :S, im really confused and frustrated because, i had this problem before with the message at log in, and lappy not shutting down, but it was fine when i removed the battery. im just dreading a hardware fault, because if it is im going to have to get it repaired, and wont have my laptop :(. ive checkd the display things on device manager and they seem to be all working properly aswell

Re: blank acer aspire screen :S
I agree with you it could be a loose connection. Best to open the laptop up and check the video cable connections (LCD side and motherboard side). As for the backlight, it has different wire from the inverter... this may explain why your screen lights up but nothing's showing.
