HELP! HP DV6700 touchpad is getting really hot up to 55Celsius-All USB port not ok

Hi,

I really need help on my HP DV6700.
All 3 ports of my USB doesnt work and my touchpad is getting really hot
using HD Tune with display 55Celsius of temperature!!!

Dual boot XP/Vista

This is the history
on XP
1. I used a serial to USB connector then suddenly USB dont work after moving the cable.
2. Tried to update driver /Disable/Enable USB on Device Manager-still USB not ok
3. Restore my PC but USBs were still not detected and touchpad is really hot.

on Vista
1. Tried step 2 and 3 on vista but it is still the same..Im freakin out!Sorry

What is causing the problem? Are all of my USB were shorted?
that causes overheating exactly at the middle of my touchpad.

I hope those hardware expert can help me out here!
Many thanks!

Possible short may be in the motherboard or in the touchpad as it feels hot as per your description. I suggest you open it up and check each and every connection (all wires/cables). You may try to remove the cable connection of the touchpad and see if your USB ports work. If not may be you have a defective motherboard.

You were right. I sent my laptop to a technician and said that my motherboard was already defective. And I sold parts that they can use
because I have no time to wait to replace a new motherboard.
I need that so bad and bought a new simple laptop for work.

The only left that I was able to savage for my usage is my HD and
2Gig DDR2.

Thanks TriggerFinger!
