Converted laptop HD to external...two questions
Greetings,
I have a five year old Sony Vaio PCG-K25 that I recently removed the hard drive from and made into an external. It seems to be working fine. Two questions: Is there any value left in the computer w/o the hard drive? Can I use it as a second monitor or harvest any other parts? Is there any reason to keep any of the files on the hard drive besides personal things ( ie music, pictures, etc)? Thank you for your thoughts |

Re: Converted laptop HD to external...two questions
If you are using the laptop hard drive as an 'extra' external hard drive that you can use in any other computer then (IMHO) you would not need the operating system originally installed in that hard drive. What you need from that hard drive are (probably) your important files (i.e. docs, pics, etc...).
As for the laptop (without a hard drive, but still in working condition), you may still sell it as-is (whole or as parts) or put another hard drive and use it a backup computer. I personally would recommend selling it whole - better than selling it part by part so you would not have trouble disassembling and harvesting each usable component.

Re: Converted laptop HD to external...two questions
Yes it is just an extra HD. Right now just a way to use my personal files on my desktop and probably a backup once I get a new laptop.
Thanks for your input. |
