[SOLVED] Core 2 Duo laptop multiplier
Hello, My mom just got a laptop a few days ago and it is a Core 2 Duo 2.0ghz with Vista home basic installed. In Vista, it says 2.0ghz but when I try software such as Cpu-z and some other ones, I only get a core speed of 1200mhz(rounded off) and the multiplier is only set to 6. I tried messing with the bios but the options were limited; in other words, I can't mess with the CPU, RAM, and other factors in hardware so no harm done on my end.
Neo Basic 2235 Core 2 Duo 2.0ghz 2gb Ram 320gb hard drive. wifi/lan/modem but no bluetooth. Vista home basic sp1 Is this normal?, Am I actually missing something here? I'll try to post the necessary screen shots in 1 hour after my mom uses it. Thanks in advance.

Re: Core 2 Duo laptop multiplier
It has what's called EIST (Enhanced Intel Speed Step) which varies the multiplier according to load to save power and increase time unplugged as well as reduce heat.

Re: [SOLVED] Core 2 Duo laptop multiplier
Sorry but after tweaking with related options in vista, I've found out the power management was causing the low multiplier thus the bottleneck.
