XP startup issue

I just recovered from a Registry problem on my Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop. It occurred because I only have 2.6 gb left on my 60 gb drive, and apparently XP started overwriting my Registry files resulting in c0000214 Registry file corruption error.

I was able to get the Config folder fixed which allowed me to save both the programs and data files.

However, I now have various other problems that appear after logging in. Here they are...
  1. I do not see any wireless connections listed so I can't connect to the internet. The wireless adaptor is enabled.
  2. An external drive is not recognized (I want to perform a full backup and have most of my data on the external drive). The ext. drive works perfectly with my desktop, but not the laptop, and power is available to the drive.
  3. My external mouse (also usb like the ext. drive) does not have any power going to it (I don't see the neon lite flickering) and so does not work
  4. The scroll bars on my internal mouse pad does not work.

I think I'm missing utilities on the startup file, or drivers, or the port is not correct. Something is missing that is causing this.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Re: XP startup issue

I suggest you clean up your HDD first for unneeded files. I also suggest you run XP repair install to fix your XP install files. You will need your XP install CD.
