EEK! Sony Vaio Windows XP installation troubleshoot

Hello, i bought a Sony Vaio BX397XP from a guy in France. It has a virused version of Windows XP in french installed, he told me he never reinstalled so my guess is that it was shipped from the factory with it. My point is that i clearly need to install a fresh copy, that works fine and is not in french. I have a genuine Windows XP SP2 CD, i boot with it and i get a blue screen after all the loadings, i tryied with a Windows 2003 Server but i dont get the bluescreen it just cant find my SATA hard disks. I looked in BIOS to see for any settings for the hard disks detection method, but it has none. So i downloaded the drivers from Sony, and integrated the SATA driver into my Windows XP SP2 copy, using nLite, now i dont get the bluescreen but it can't find my hard disks, so i can't install, i tried integrating SP3, integrating all the drivers, still won't work. I don't know what to try anymore. Would appreciate some feedback, Thanks.

Re: Sony Vaio Windows XP installation troubleshoot

Boot to the Bios and run the Hard drive diag and while your there run the ram test.
If all is Ok boot to the French Xp and insert your Cd in the drive . You might/should be able to install from there.

Re: Sony Vaio Windows XP installation troubleshoot

All was fine on the tests, if i try to install from within the current windows xp installation i eventually end up in the same spot, it asks for restart after 2 prompts about the installation type, new or upgrade, and after de cd-key, it copies some files then restarts and when it reboots it goes into de boot blue install screen that you get when you boot directly from the cd and i can't see the hard disks again

Re: Sony Vaio Windows XP installation troubleshoot

But i am sure it's not a hardware issues, i can see the hard disks in the RAID manager at boot time, and the french windows works fine except it has a trojan downloader or something like that.

Have you two hard drives? You didn't mention a raid setup.

Re: Sony Vaio Windows XP installation troubleshoot

I guess nLite is overrated, everybody told me to integrate drivers with it and i burned like 10 copies with integrated drivers and nothing, tried the PNP mode the text mode, just the sata driver, all the drivers, all the drivers and SP3, just the sata driver and SP3 both text then pnp mode, maybe there is a universal sata driver that works on any?

Re: Sony Vaio Windows XP installation troubleshoot

If you are installing to a single comp I don't see the benefit of slipstreaming .
Do you really want the raid?
Try removing one drive and see if you can install Xp to the other.
I run a mixture of Sata, Ide and flash and never install Sata drivers.
