Can't detect dvd drive, not even in BIOS
Hi , my Acer Aspire 1694 WLMI laptop has been having a lot of problems lately. Freezes a lot while using IE6, difficulties in starting up. One day, it began having blue screen error "kernel_data_impage_error" and window automatically closed after dumping the physcial memory. It 's getting more frequent. I also realised that the pc no longer detect the dvd drive, went to BIOS set up and it's not listed. All related programs can't be used, like dvd43 or Nero, says can't find drivers..etc
Is it hard disc ( e.g. bad sector, but check disc showed no bad sectors) or does the dvd rom needs replacement? ( laptop is 2.7 years. old) or is it virus problems or damaged registry...??? I've done heaps or virus scans, spyware scans and clean and registry scans and repairs. What else can I do? How do I be sure it's definitely beyond repairs and needs replacement? Please help! Thanks!

Re: Can't detect dvd drive, not even in BIOS
if it is not listed in the bios the contacts on the back may need cleaning or the drive needs replacing
