Re: Cant Boot From CD
Hey. Im having much the same issue as this guy was (minus the turdy attitude) and researching the web for an answer. I know this thread is a few years old but Im hoping somebody can help me out anyways.
My situation is slightly different. Im on a Toshiba Satellite M45-S359. The Windows on here was destroyed when a friend borrowed the laptop and I was trying for a fresh reinstall. Windows wont even load now. At first I thought maby it was my boot CD so I dl'ed the Ubuntu boot disk and it works fine on my desktop. So I know at least that one disk is working as a boot CD. I have set BIOS (ACPI BIOS version = 1.20) to boot from CD and saved it. The DVD-ROM driver starts and spins when the laptop is turned on but its not booting anything. I have tested the DVD-ROM drive on another laptop and it works perfectly. I dont get any error messages or anything, it just tries to start Windows from the HDD. I was going to try to do the troubleshooting you guys suggested for this threads creator but Im on a laptop and my BIOS doesnt have any of the options you all have suggested he do. That and to be honest Im a bit wary of taking apart a laptop. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. |

Re: Cant Boot From CD
you most likely have a restore disk which you put in and press one of the F keys to set the recovery going
the disk itself will not be bootable
