hp pavilion dv2315nr doesn't display screen or boot

I have the same problem. I start the computer, all lights are, the fan kicks in -but the screen is black/blank. I tried the FN F4 keys as well fooled with the key that would increase screen brightness. To turn it off, I have to take the battery out. There is nothing wrong with the power source. I do notice that the battery indicator led (looks like lighting symbol) is off sometimes. HP Customer service site indicates 4 possible problems: (1) Failed AC Adapter (which in my case is working fine); (2) RAM needs to be reseated; (3) Failed system board component; (4) Bios needs to be installed and updated.

With respect to the point (4) above. I can't turn the screen on to determine what version of BIOS is on my computer. Moreover, once a download an updated version of BIOS (using another computer ofcourse) - how do I install it -- if my screen is blank?

I also tried attaching the laptop to an external monitor to determine if I could get a display -- and that didn't work.

Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.
Thabnk you

Hi garan, Has your problem been resolved--? Let me know. Had the same symptons on an HP dv6000. Was able to get it running by using--F8 on start up select Repair computer follow screen instructions do Restore point. Worked for me. Then you can check drivers and so forth. Navjon
