My inspiron 1521 has suddenly stopped downloading things. Itunes works fine, and it still can save pictures, but patch files for online games, and things from sites that worked just the other day suddenly stopped. When I try to download things it goes through the process like it should, but when it finishes it just dings and the box dissapears and the downloaded file is no where to be found. It also won't let me try to 'run' these files either. I don't know if this has anything to do with the problem but at around the same time by laptop's battery and charger also seem to be working strangly. It works fine when it's plugged in, but when you unplug it it dies suddenly and it wasn't doing that this weekend. the battery light on the side keeps blinking from blue to red too. This is the first major problem i've had with my laptop and I'm almost positive it isn't adware or the like, does anyone know what's wrong with it?

Re: Laptop suddenly stopped downloading
I am guessing but the DOWNLOAD folder is usually set in the browser. As for Firefox, it is in the Downloads folder. This can be set/changed in Tools | Options.
As for the unwanted shutoff when you unplug from AC, I believe your battery is totally discharged and is not charging. Check in BIOS setup, under BATTERY or POWER (not so sure) if you have a message similar to 'Adapter is not recognized' or 'Battery is not recognized'. Post back what you find out.

Re: Laptop suddenly stopped downloading
I've only got internet explorer, where's the download folder? I know I've got one on my desktop, but that doesn't have anything in it. As for my battery issue, I will look that up. It doesn't sound like a major issue though.

Re: Laptop suddenly stopped downloading
You can right click on the item you want to download and select SAVE TARGET AS.... I believe it will open the folder where it placed the file from the last download.
If you want to change download folder, do the steps here: http://www.tweakxp.com/article37135.aspx

Re: Laptop suddenly stopped downloading
I've tried that before and it didn't work. However I left my computer alone for a few days and it somehow fixed itself. Totally saving that link though. Thanks a bunch for the help!
