my keyboard on my laptop is typing in shortcuts

hi im josh, im new and i have a toshiba tecra and when i turn on my laptop it types in shortcuts where "R" is restart and "D" is shutdown and "L" language and so on its driving me insane i tried onpening the laptop to see if it was not plugged all the way into the motherboard but it is connected to it and not plugged in so that wasnt the problem can anybody help

Hi Josh,

Forgive me for asking but can you elaborate more on the 'shortcut' thingies? Where do you see them? At what part of the boot up do they appear? Can you boot into BIOS setup? Does Windows start?
