Asus Z63A Does Not Boot UP - Shuts Down Persistently
Hi,
I have been away for about two days, and just returned to a terrible situation with my laptop. A different AC power adapter (that looks similar to mine) had been used to power up my laptop for about two days - though the input/output ratings were different, it did work for a while, apparently. Just this afternoon, the laptop turned off by itself for no apparent reason. Around the same time, there was a burning smell coming from the power unit. I turned off all power, and let it sit for a while. Any time I start it, it powers up briefly, then turns off. I suspected that the power system or the fan might be damaged. I checked and the fan works. I still suspect the power system since anytime I insert the correct AC adaptor and try to start it up, the burning smell increases. If the power system is fried, why it would power up in the first place, if it was indeed damaged. Is there any way to check this? And if it is, is there anything I can do to repair/replace the power unit? Thanks in advance for all your help. Sincerely, EK |

Re: Asus Z63A Does Not Boot UP - Shuts Down Persistently
Best way is to take it apart leaving RAM, mobo, LCD and power ON switch. If symptoms persist in this bare bones setup, then it could most likely be any one of these remaining components. Start with the RAM. Get a good/working RAM to replace the ones currently installed.
