compaq laptop battery self test N610C

One of my batteries for my n610c laptop is failing in a manner that stumps me.
It has a spot to press & charge condition of battery is shown in the 5 green LEDS on battery itself.. After charging, pressing the test button on 'THIS' battery causes all 5 LEDS to come on for a few seconds & then they go out. THEN, when spot is released all 5 LEDS come BACK ON for a few seconds & then go out.. So, my question is, where is the breakout for these LEDS so I can understand what these lights are telling me ?? Battery type = PP2041H series.
Thx for any help here..
jim

Re: compaq laptop battery self test N610C

This may not answer directly your question but this is HP's recommendation:

Re: compaq laptop battery self test N610C

I looked pretty close to the HP approach but saw nothing about a removed battery that reveals its own condition in LED's on the battery itself . Anyone one else out there with the answer ??? thx, jim
