hello all, good to be back after a long absence :((

i recently acquired an IBM ThinkPad 760 XD with Windows 98 OS. this laptop is old school! there has only been one post that i have seen here on TSF about the 760XD. but it was not what i needed.

anyways. there are no USB ports on this thing, only a PS/2 port for a mouse, an RJ-45 port for ethernet, a phone line port for dial-up, head phone jack, some other inputs ( not sure, but not important ) and a really huge, what looks like a Giant Serial port about 4-5 inches long in the back just below the screen.

i'm looking, preferably if anyone knows of one, a CD image i can download and burn to restore the laptop to original factory settings, i've tried my googling skills, but have only come across other versions of the 760 model. there are some sites selling system restore CDs for 25 dollars but not too sure how legit those sites are, and in my current job position, i unfortunately don't have 25 dollars i can just throw around to see if it works or not :(

i have tried the manufacturer website but since this system is so old they do not have it listed in their products list or their help and support offerings.

no have not checked ebay as of yet will do that tho, thanks for the suggestion.

EDIT:

no luck with ebay, just LCD assemblies and other misc parts. no restore CDs

i've even gone to IBMs page for support but they don't list the 760 series they go from the 600 series and jump to the 770 series. :( no one loves me, they want my laptop to fail lol.

maybe Craigslist? local stores? Actually, I have a Windows 98 SE disc, if you want to pay for shipping.

no thanks, i have multiple OSs including some of my favorite flavors of linux, win3.1, win98, win98SE, win2k ( my fav oldschool win distro ), and winXP.

i will probably put win2k on the machine, but then the problem becomes finding drivers for all the components.
