Toshiba Satellite A205 failure

I have a Toshiba Satellite A205 which I have used for at least 8 months but the motherboard (not sure) got burnt last week. Now the problem I have is that, the S/N: sticker at the bottom has faded out. This has made it difficulty for me to get it repaired by the dealer for they claim it was not bought from them. Please assist me on how it can be proven it was bought from them or get the S/N, bearing in mind that they cannot retrieve the serial from the burnt motherboard.

Check your receipts, bank statements, etc for around the date you bought the motherboard. The dealer should also have a record of sales he can refer to.

I have the receipt with the serial but the dealer claims that he is not sure that its the machine
