Laptop won't start

by the way mine is a lap top but it wont start at all only the green button stays on i have tryed everything the computer just will not turn on please what can i do to get it on? im devistated its got vista 64 on it why i don't know thats how it came with the factory and 4 megs of ram and only the green light works with nothing i can hear it then it turns off and there is nothing like its dead can you help me please. thank you

Doesn't sound very good, but for starters when u plug it in does the battery charge led lights? if it does thats good.....Just my opinion if u ever get it going, change it to Xp!!!!!!!!!......okay u need to have someone who
knows about laptop's to take it apart and try a different proccessor and memory in it... its like an elimination process even the hard drive and just see if it bootup to the bios.....id take out all the memory, wireless card and just leave it with basic and see what happens........

like i said i can't get in to change anything i have had to gateway techs look at it to only send it back to me to say there is nothing wrong with it omg what idiots! they just need to send me a brand new computer instead they sent me a refubished one back when i got a brand new one in the begging this one is just a peice of junk i am taking it up with gateways charge as i did charge it to gate way wich is really HSN and Gateway is Is now ACER lol i found out DON'T BUY GATEWAY PLEASE THERE NOT WHAT THEY USED TO BE TRUST ME i paid 1600 for this laptop and it was a lemmon so they sent me a refubershid one and that is a peice of s --t thanks for your post all Julia

When you power ON, some lights come ON, you may hear or feel the fan spin, some sound from HDD or CD drive as they try to initialize. Do you notice any of these?
