Dropped my Toshiba A60 on my toe.

My brother gave me his old Tosh A60 about a week ago. I am new to laptop computing but was trying to get familure with the thing. I was moving it from my desk to take it with me and it got hung on a usb cord I forgot to unplug. I did not have a firm grip on it and it dropped on my bare toe. It was only about a foot and a half (the drop not my toe) to the floor. After limping around a while I plugged the laptop in and it powered up for about 1 second and then shut down. This is some thing simple to fix right?

Hi BillTosh,

With the laptop turned OFF, remove the battery and locate the RAM bay (possible location is on the bottom side) and remove and put back the RAM modules securely in their sockets. Also try to do the same for the hard drive. Put back the battery and plug the AC then power ON.

Post back what happens.

How are you with opening the laptop up? If your fine with it, strip it down to bare bones. Remove HDD, CD drive, modem, WLAN card but leave power ON switch, motherboard, LCD, a good/working RAM and AC adapter. Power ON the laptop using AC power.

Re: Dropped my Toshiba A60 on my toe.

Do you mean to power it on with everything removed? I assume this is to see what might be the item that was loose. I did have it opened but did not power it up with everthing removed, just did not think of that.

Hmmmm, yep. I think you get what I mean... It would now depend on how good (or bad ) you are in removal procedures. Use this very good guide (do not mind if it is for A65)...

Thanks. Because of scheduling it will take me a few days to work on it. I will let you know how it comes out.
