LED display not functioning after formatting (dell inspiron 640m)
Hi,
I have formatted my dell laptop and I'm pretty convinced I have reinstalled all of the necessary drivers. However, now the LED display (where the status of wifi, power etc is shown) isn't functioning. Does anyone know how to get the LEDS working again? Kind regards Dan |

Re: LED display not functioning after formatting (dell inspiron 640m)
Hi Dan,
LEDs for power, Caps Lock, Num Lock, and battery is NOT controlled by any operating system driver (at least AFAIK). Hardware wise they should be lighting up (ex. the Power ON LED and the battery LED) when you switch the computer ON. In your case, you said the do not light up, right? But does the laptop power ON? Any signs of life (audible activities from fan or HDD and CD/DVD drives)?

Laptop is fully functioning, no problems at all (apart from getting bluetooth working again but that's another matter!)
It's powered up, running from mains power, wifi is installed and working etc etc, just no indication from LEDs All were fully working before formatting Last edited by resten; 04-10-2009 at 03:48 PM. |

So laptop is working fine just no LEDs that light up? If yes, you can check their connection. I believe they are under the hinge cover plate. For the removal and replacement procedures, refer to the manual here:
