Screen Problem

Hi, I just recently bought a HP G50-109NR Notebook PC, which is designed for Windows Vista, and I managed to collect the drivers/adapters (not sure if they're all right) so I can boot Windows XP as well. After using XP for a while, however, whenever I try to move a window, or even operate within a window like scrolling up and down, the response would be slow and the original screen would "linger" for a while and then slowly move itself to its new position. I have, several times, used Norton Ghost 12.0 to recover my XP drive with an image I made when I just got my computer; immediately after the recovery, when I used XP, the computer would act normally, but after one shutdown of my computer, it would begin doing that again. It's really, somewhat frustrating when I'm trying to manipulate my windows around because it takes forever for the screen to "change" into the new window I opened up.

By the way, just out of curiosity, but if I ever ended up getting a virus onto my Vista, would it be a bad idea to recover it from my XP (since I did make an image of my Vista with Norton Ghost 12.0 as well)? Because besides system recovery, which would return my computer to its factory state, I don't know of any other way. Thanks!

Re: Screen Problem

No. Vista has its own separate problem; I believe I may have a virus on Vista, that's why I posted the second paragraph :D

Re: Screen Problem

Have you checked for hardware related errors like running HDD and Ram diagnostics? If you have not done so yet, run HDD diagnostics using Seatools or Hitachi DFT (see HDD Diags link on my sig). Get the CD image so you can boot and run the test from the CD drive.

As for the RAM use Memtest86+. Again get the CD image file and burn the ISO image into a blank CD to be able to boot and run Memtest from CD/DVD drive.

Instructions on HOW TO BURN AN ISO FILE has a link on my sig.

Re: Screen Problem

So before doing what you told me to, I went and checked Device Manager and saw the exclamation mark sign next to my display adapter NVIDIA GeForce 8200M G. Seeing this, I checked the properties and under device status it said "This device cannot start. (Code 10)". I believe that may actually be my problem, but I am clueless as to how I can fix it.

Re: Screen Problem

If the status of video/display says 'Drivers not installed' try this driver:
