[SOLVED] Can't hardly see a thing!

Aloha Everyone! I've got the Toshiba A55-S1064 Laptop, and after replacing the hard drive, I've now got another problem with the computer. I'm not sure if the Inverter has failed, or the LCD monitor itself has finally bailed. When I hit the power button, the screen is completely dark. If you were to shine a flashlight on it at an angle, you can just barely see the Windows logo, etc, as it boots up. Before it failed, and before I had issues with the hard drive, the monitor would flicker somewhat, then turn to a white haze. So I would turn the computer off, power it back on, then it'd be fine. Am I correct to assume that the Inverter has failed?

Thanks in advance for any advice given. Mahalo!!!!

Re: Can't hardly see a thing!

Sounds like the back light in the screen has gone bad, to find out you could hook it to an external monitor if that gives a good image then most likely a LCD replacement will fix it.

Re: Can't hardly see a thing!

Well, I managed to connect my 16" LCD monitor to the laptop, and I can see everything again. So now I have to decide if it's worth dishing out the $300 bucks for a new screen, or chuck the old laptop and buy a new one. Oh well...

Thanks for the reply, it's greatly appreciated. Mahalo plenty!!!
