hp laptop shuts itself off at start up
I have a hp dv6253cl and it shuts itself off just one second after the blue lights go on. I have tried re-seating the ram. I haven't loaded any new programs or made any changes to it recently. Worked fine last night but today it won't turn on. I tried to push F12 but I don't think it is staying on long enough for that to register. Anyone have any ideas short of taking it in for repair? Thanks

Re: hp laptop shuts itself off at start up
Try to reset/drain all transient electricity in the system. Remove battery and unplug AC. Press and hold power ON button for 30secs. Put back all sources of power and do a normal power ON.
Also measure AC adapter output using a multimeter. If adapter is giving out correct voltage (based on its label), try using the laptop with the battery removed (use only AC). If symptoms persist, use a charged battery (remove/unplug AC). If the above does not help, try with a new or a known good/working RAM.
