Acer Aspire 3680 keyboard issue*Wierd*
Aight... So what i have going on is a computer that has a keyboard that certain keys arent working like enter and the letter E and other parts. cant tell you everything since i cant get past(choose operating system to use.. press enter...) So... what i did was get a new keyboard.. The new keyboard has the same keys non-functional so i bought a new keyboard for nothing it looks like.
Questions... 1. I head there is some sort of "protection" on keyboard circuits that will actually lock out certain keys... i wasnt sure if that was bupkis or not, It stated that you had to leave the laptop totally unpowered(pull bios chip too) for over 24 hours... is this a real fix or a ruse? 2. If that cannot fix(which i am trying to do now... 24 hours is a long time to ponder how to fix.. lol) What are my other options as i know that it isnt the keyboard that is cuasing this problem. Could the motherboard be bad. i looked at the pins for the keyboard connection and they all seemed fine... Could this in fact be a keyboard controller issue? And if so... how can this be fixed... or can it not? 3.. Thank you for helping.. im stumped to all heck and i really dont want to give up on this. its a friend and he isnt a rich person. im trying to help him out. |

Re: Acer Aspire 3680 keyboard issue*Wierd*
I really cannot give some definite answers to your other questions but as for the keyboard and you have tried to replace it with a new one, then it could be the motherboard. What I suggest is you use an external keyboard (via USB for example) and try if it functions well. If it does, then most likely it could be the internal keyboards that you are using or the connection socket on the mobo.
