Laptop keyboard

For the last few days the keyboard on my laptop has been typing gibberish not what I type. For example:

I am testing the com]j,gepu]j,gete]j,ger for th]j,gee gesq.[]probem. I am tryin]j,gg to ]j,gesee w,here the problem li]j,gees.

This is very frustrating becuase I do transcription of audio files and it wastes a lot of time trying to fix these gibberish sentences.

Do you think it is a virus?

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Does it happen on any program (i.e. browser, notepad, wordpad, word, excel, etc...)? Does it happen in COMMAND prompt?

It happens mostly in word or when I am typing an email. It suddenly will jump to another part of the document or it will type gibberish.

Does it happen in Command Prompt?

Btw have you tried scanning for virus/malware? I suggest you try Kaspersky or NOD32 online scanners.
