advent 7109b wont charge battery

hi can anyone help iv got a advent 7109b laptop. that i baught a new battery for. the origanal battery is a l51-4s2000-g1l1. this battery charges fine. but does not last long. the new battery i baught is a l51-4s2200-g1b1. this battery only comes on charge for 1 min then switches off. i now have 2 of these batterys and they are both the same they will not charge. iv been told i need a bios upgrade. but cant find one for my model. the techguys at pc world say i should not need one as if my other battery charges so should this as they are both l51 batterys. pulling my hair out now. cheers brian

Can you tell me if you completed the BIOS update?
I have exactly the same problem I purchased a new power supply and a (apparently) tested battery off eBay to no avail.
I tried running the BIOS update mentioned above but when it goes into CMD prompt it says it cannot run with EMM 386 memory (or somethging like that)?
can anybody help?
